TA18 is a nearly α-type titanium alloy with nominal composition Ti-3Al-2.5V, specifically developed for cold-processed pipe applications. Offering 20%-50% higher strength than pure titanium at both room and elevated temperatures, it features superior welding and cold forming performance compared to TC4 alloy.
TA18 alloy is typically used in annealed state, though cold-processed and stress-relieved annealed states are also applicable. Maximum operating temperature: ≈315°C.

Component variations significantly affect alloy properties. Increased oxygen enhances strength but reduces plasticity, while excess hydrogen causes embrittlement.
Alloy requires minimum two vacuum consumable electrode arc furnace melting cycles.
Ideal for aircraft/engine pressure-bearing systems (hydraulic, fuel, lubricant, air), honeycomb structures, and components requiring optimal strength-to-weight ratio with cold forming/welding capability.
