Introduction to Aermet 100 Martensitic Alloy Steel
Aermet 100 is a premium high-strength, high-toughness metal material featuring exceptional corrosion resistance and fatigue life. Its unique composition of iron, cobalt, nickel, and vanadium with significant carbon and molybdenum content delivers outstanding mechanical properties. The material offers excellent workability and heat treatment adaptability, making it suitable for various industrial applications.

  • Chromium (Cr): 2.90% - 3.30%
  • Nickel (Ni): 11% - 12%
  • Cobalt (Co): 13% - 14%
  • Molybdenum (Mo): 1.10% - 1.30%
  • Nitrogen (N): ≤ 0.0020%
  • Titanium (Ti): ≤ 0.015%
  • Aluminum (Al): ≤ 0.015%

Heat Treatment
Aermet 100's performance can be optimized through normalizing, annealing, solution treatment (1625°F±25°F/885°C±14°C for 1 hour), and aging. Cold treatment to -100°F (-73°C) ensures complete toughness.
Mechanical Performance
After proper heat treatment, Aermet 100 achieves:
  • Hardness: HRC53-54
  • Tensile strength: 285 KSI (~1970 MPa)
  • Elongation: 14%
  • Elongation at break: 65%
Processing Characteristics
Aermet 100 offers excellent formability through forging and machining. At HRC 38 hardness, machining requires hard alloy cutting tools as it presents greater difficulty than 4340 steel.

Widely used in aerospace for aircraft, missiles, spacecraft, and satellites. Also suitable for defense, energy, automotive, and medical equipment industries.
